are a team player with strong strategic and operational skills
Are you ready to shape the voice of Quantum Delta NL and drive its impact forward?
About Quantum Delta NL (QDNL)
Quantum Delta NL is the foundation that connects the key knowledge institutions in the field of quantum technology in the Netherlands and implements the Dutch National Agenda for Quantum Technology. Our mission is to further strengthen the thriving Dutch quantum ecosystem to become the most relevant in Europe.
Established in 2019, QDNL received full funding for the National Growth Fund in April 2021, granting the organization a mandate for the next seven years. With ambitious goals and a significant mission ahead, we are continuously evolving and expanding.
Team and Culture
You will join the programme office team at Quantum Delta NL, which coordinates eight programme components, each with its own team. Our culture is characterized by informality, collaboration, and a passion for innovation.
Based in Delft (at least on Mondays) and remotely or on location as needed, you will be part of the Communications, Branding & Outreach Team, working alongside individuals dedicated to advancing quantum technology in the Netherlands and beyond.
The most important elements of the position are:
You are responsible for our communication, Public Relations and event strategy and all communications coming from the Quantum Delta NL foundation: our website, branding, newsletter, social media channels, PR, the way we present ourselves at conferences and the way we organize our own events.
You can further build up a team (2-5 FTE) with varying expertise and lead it in the right direction.
We’re working to become the next Silicon Valley for quantum technology. The job of the communications, branding & outreach team is to build our reputation with a national and international audience.
We are a foundation with a concrete programme but communicate about the entire Dutch quantum ecosystem. This means you’re the go-to person for the foundation’s team members about their work and its milestones, but also for example for the quantum startups, the knowledge institutes and universities’ scientists that publish their research. It’s your job to balance the news coming from the various hubs (regions) in our ecosystem and keep our audience up to date about everything that happens within the Netherlands’ thriving quantum ecosystem.
Quantum Delta NL has some programmes and initiatives that are 100% funded and executed by our foundation, and a lot of programmes that are partially funded. You are responsible for executing our branding architecture and making sure all initiatives have the right level of Quantum Delta NL’s look and feel to them. Which requires creativity and flexibility to navigate the context with external partners and their own communication strategy.
Almost all communication at this point is targeted at an audience that’s knowledgeable about quantum technology. Your job won’t be to explain the technology to a layman’s audience, but to excite those who are already interested about what’s happening in the quantum field in the Netherlands.
You have oversight of the wider community. By being one of our team’s ‘spiders in the web’, owning the QDNL brand, you naturally know when members of our community achieve milestones, celebrate highlights, face struggles etc. You relay the important messages to the Quantum Delta NL team.
Our activities aren’t all pre-fixed. This also makes the job extra fun; you are joining an organization that is continuously in development, which means that there is still a lot that can be done and decided.
What we are looking for:
You have at least 5+ years of experience as a marketing and/or communication senior professional.
You have experience working in a startup environment and are used to a dynamic environment, in which you cannot always fall back on existing rules, frameworks, etc.
You are an organizational talent.
You have a warm and entrepreneurial personality and are focused on achieving results through collaboration. Our tone of voice in communication is personal and welcoming.
You are a very proactive person who can quickly become a ‘spider in the web’ in a team of professionals who work in a hybrid manner.
You are flexible and creative to get to pragmatic solutions in an ecosystem where rules and procedures are not yet set in stone.
You can shape and execute communication activities to contribute to the growth of our quantum community.
You have demonstrable experience in developing, coordinating, and executing communication activities (positioning, branding, website, newsletters, social media, industry events and press releases) within a marketing and/or communication team.
You have experience with the organization of social gatherings, event & conference participation.
You are used to taking the lead and are able to delegate where possible/required, you can edit other people's work, and you have experience in (co-)executing a communications strategy.
You are independent. This is not a role for someone who still needs a lot of direction; you manage others, and you have no problem taking the lead.
You have excellent written and verbal skills in both Dutch and English.
What we offer:
Competitive salary with holiday allowance, 13th month bonus, flex budget, and pension compensation.
Structural reimbursement for phone and internet expenses.
Hybrid working options and travel allowance for commuting.
Company MacBook and access to our learning platform and wellness tools.
We are looking for someone who can start soon (temporary freelance is optional) and is open to permanent employment after an agreed period. We are seeking someone for a full-time position, ideally available 5 days a week.
Application process:
Excited to apply? We look forward to receiving your CV and cover letter in a single file via LinkedIn. For any questions, please contact Berthilde Toes, HR Advisor at QDNL (berthilde.toes@quantumdelta.nl).

Interview with Magalie Fogaras People Lead and/or other board member
Interview with Juliette de la Rie, current Head of Communications, Branding & Outreach
