New Master’s in Applied Quantum Technology Launching in 2025
Four Dutch universities of applied sciences – Amsterdam, Fontys, Saxion, and The Hague launch a Master’s programme in Applied Quantum Technology in September 2025. Enrolment for this programme will open in May.
About the Programme
This two-year, full-time master’s programme brings together four universities of applied sciences to train future quantum professionals. With a focus on practical skills in quantum hardware and software, students can specialise in Quantum Software, Quantum Electronics, or Quantum Photonics. The programme includes an internship with industry or research partners, preparing graduates for careers in quantum technology.
Graduates of this Master’s programme will become highly skilled professionals, capable of working in interdisciplinary teams on cutting-edge projects. The programme is designed to meet the growing industry demand for hands-on professionals, addressing a critical skills gap in the quantum technology workforce.
This marks a significant milestone in our ambition to help shape the future workforce for the rapidly evolving quantum industry in the Netherlands. At the same time, we want to underscore the vital role that technical education at universities of applied sciences plays in supporting the deep-tech sector and driving societal progress. We’re proud to support this master’s programme!
Future proof collaboration
Offered as a joint degree, this programme leverages the unique strengths of each university, from photonics and electronics to software. Students will study across multiple campuses, collaborating with peers and faculty members from across the country.
Bringing Quantum to Industry
The Netherlands is at the forefront of global quantum development, with a robust ecosystem supported by government investments such as the National Growth Fund programme by Quantum Delta NL. This initiative aims to further strengthen the already thriving Dutch quantum ecosystem and enhance its relevance across Europe.
