Quantum at Zwarte Cross: Cracking the Quantum Code

Zwarte Cross is not your average festival. Known for its unique mix of music, motocross, theatre and mud, it also offers space for something unexpected: science. In the so called "Blagenparadijs", the kids’ area of the festival, science came to life in the "Wettenschapshoek", where children explored the world of quantum physics in a playful and accessible way.

Quantum Delta NL proudly co-funded one of the highlights of this year’s programme: “Crack the Quantum Code”.

The interactive experience “Crack the Quantum Code”, developed by TU Eindhoven and De Ontdekfabriek, introduces secondary school students to the basics of quantum physics and quantum computing through a short film, puzzles, and hands-on activities.

In the film De Uitvinders en de Quantum Code, Amani is pulled into a mysterious quantum world. Her classmates – and the audience – must solve a series of quantum-themed challenges to bring her back. Once the right code is cracked, the story continues, and the line between fiction and science begins to blur.

This initiative is part of Quantum Delta NL’s broader mission to make quantum technology understandable and engaging for all, especially the next generation. By supporting creative outreach like this, we aim to spark curiosity and show that quantum is not just for labs and lecture halls, but something that can be explored anywhere. Even in a festival field.
