The Quantum Applications Card Game
A Fun Way to Explore Future Quantum Possibilities

As quantum technologies transition from the lab to real-world use, understanding their societal impact becomes increasingly urgent. To support policymakers and innovators in navigating this fast-evolving landscape, the Centre for Quantum and Society has developed the Quantum Applications Card Game—a playful and strategic tool to explore the future of quantum technology.
The game features over 100 cards showcasing potential applications of quantum computing, communication, and sensing. Some of these applications are nearing commercial readiness, while others remain longer-term prospects.
Designed for 2 to 5 players, the objective is to build the most powerful quantum technology portfolio. Policy cards serve as multipliers, accelerating progress, while critical materials cards provide bonus points by reflecting their geopolitical importance.
This game is tailored for those who wish to gain insight into practical quantum applications without needing deep technical knowledge—ideal for policymakers, corporate strategists, and product developers.
"The Quantum Applications Card Game is a fun and accessible way to learn about emerging quantum applications and related policy issues. It also serves as a springboard for identifying use cases within specific sectors. Even teams without prior quantum knowledge can be inspired to imagine how quantum might impact their industry."

The Centre for Quantum & Society offers keynotes, training programmes, workshops, and facilitated game sessions for teams and audiences keen to explore how quantum technologies may shape our industries and societies. Whether you're seeking inspiration, strategic insights, or hands-on engagement, get in touch to explore the possibilities.
The Quantum Applications Card Game builds on insights from the studies Applications of Quantum Technology for the Water Sector and Applications of Quantum Technology for the Energy Transition, and the white paper on critical materials for quantum technology R&D. Special thanks to Juwe van Vliet, who played a key role in developing the game for the Centre for Quantum and Society.
