Visitor’s Program Story: Optical Clocks and Enabling Technologies

Quantum Delta NL invites talented individuals to participate in our community through multiple collaborative channels. The goal is to leave no talent behind by accommodating the goals and educational trajectory of (prospective) members.

You too can apply for funding for a sabbatical, exchange visit, workshop, summer school and more, and the programme is open to applications across the domains of science, education and Industry!

Interested in visiting the Dutch quantum community or one of your partners outside of the Netherlands? Visit the QDNL Visitor’s programme page for all info on conditions and how to apply.

This time we highlight the AQuRA/CoCoRICO symposium “Optical Clocks and Enabling Technologies”, held in Innsbruck as a satellite event to ECAMP 2025.

Organised by Prof. Florian Schreck (University of Amsterdam), the symposium brought together 36 participants from 11 countries, including speakers from national metrology institutes (NMIs), universities and industry. The programme featured 8 invited talks covering topics such as frequency combs, optical lattice clocks, microwave clocks and space applications.

Notable speakers included:

  • Dr. Stefan Schlütter (DLR)

  • Dr. Fabrizio Giorgetta (NIST)

  • Dr. Masao Takamoto (RIKEN)

  • Dr. Ronald Holzwarth (Menlo Systems)

  • Prof. Matthew Jones (Durham University)

  • Dr. Jonas Keller (PTB)

  • Dr. Irene Goti (INRiM)

  • Dr. Bruno Pelle (EXAIL)

The event fostered lively discussions, new connections and potential collaborations. A strong effort was made to ensure gender balance among speakers and session chairs. By linking the symposium to ECAMP and its industry exhibition, the visibility of the AQuRA project was significantly boosted, especially within the industrial quantum community.

We collect stories from extraordinary people within the Quantum community, don't miss out on these.
