Marco Matters joins QDNL as CAT 1 Programme Lead - Quantum Computing and Simulation

Quantum Delta NL is pleased to announce that Marco Matters started as the new CAT 1 Programme Lead - Quantum Computing and Simulation. In this new role, he will shape and execute the national quantum computing strategy, accelerate collaboration across academia and industry, steer strategic investments into breakthrough technologies, and champion the Netherlands’ leadership on the global quantum stage.

Marco Matters received his MSc (1991) and PhD (1996) in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology in professor Hans Mooij’s Quantum Transport group. In 1996, he joined Philips Research as a scientific researcher. In his long career at Philips, he fulfilled various roles in program management, new business development and management. During his time at Philips, he co-founded and joined several (internal) start-ups with both R&D and operational management roles. He joined QuTech in 2023. Before that, he was the Director of Research Product management at Philips.

With his deep expertise in applied physics, extensive experience in research and innovation, and proven leadership across both corporate and academic environments, Marco Matters is uniquely positioned to accelerate Quantum Delta NL’s mission.
