Quantum & Society
Embedding quantum technology in society
Quantum Leiden has a focus on the societal aspects of quantum technology. The Quantum & Society research group led by Julia Cramer studies the awareness, questions and acceptance of quantum technology in society. Their ambition is to involve society in quantum developments in a well-considered way. Some of the initiatives of the group include studies on the impact of communication by experts and media, attitudes of societal groups, and evidence-based research into interventions such as popular science events and dialogues between scientists and society.
Communicating about quantum
What does the general public know and think about quantum? Researchers within Quantum Leiden are also thinking about that. The Quantum and Society group focuses on the social embedding of new quantum technologies and dialogue with the public. Their ambition is to involve society in quantum developments in a well-considered way. Cramer's group is researching the communication about quantum. What do different parties communicate about this new technology? What is the effect of different communication strategies, and how can we measure it?
